Defensive Handgun III is a follow up to Defensive Handgun II.  This course develops critical incident skills using the handgun. This advanced course teaches students to operate their weapon at the edge of their performance envelope, providing them with practical and retainable skills intended to increase their effectiveness and decrease reaction time. Individuals will be instructed in and expected to negotiate complex real-time situations that will instill confidence and produce reflexive memory. This course forces problem solving at real time instead of basing instruction on strict drill guidelines. The principles of economy of motion and economy of time will be stressed throughout. Students can and should expect to be pushed to their safe breaking point. It is recommended that all students attending this course be in good medical and physical condition and each student should wear clothing similar to their everyday attire and use their everyday holster. his course includes live-fire range exercises, live-fire tactical scenarios, and abundant practice integrating empty hand and knife skills. Live-fire training includes ambidextrous shooting, and shoot-no shoot decision making. This course contains "force-on-force" training only as it relates to empty hand defense, edged weapons, and weapon retention techniques. This course does not offer "force-on-force" house clearing using Simunitions, UTM, or laser-driven weapons.
